Something to Celebrate

One of Kettering Medical Center’s longtime volunteers, Florence Parmenter, recently celebrated her 100th birthday!

Over the years, Florence has volunteered her time in many areas throughout the hospital and has donated almost 19,000 hours of service to Kettering Medical Center. She currently volunteers in the Surgery Waiting Room two mornings each week from 7:00 a.m.-noon. Additionally, she often comes in early and stays late when she feels the volume is high and the staff needs additional help.

To show our appreciation, we drove Florence to the main entrance of Kettering Medical Center in a limousine. She then walked a red carpet into the lobby, where staff and volunteers were waiting to greet her. Terry Burns, chief financial officer of Kettering Medical Center and executive vice president of Kettering Health Network, and Anita Adams, chief operating officer of Kettering Medical Center, shared a few words about Florence, expressing appreciation for her years of service and excitement for this milestone in her life. The celebration continued as staff and volunteers were given the chance to stop by and wish Florence happy birthday and sign one of her birthday cards.
