Southview’s February DAISY Award Winner: Karen Beal-Piper

Read Time: 1 min

Congratulations to Karen Beal-Piper, RN, a nurse in ICU at Southview Medical Center, for winning the hospital’s February DAISY Award!

The DAISY Award is given to nurses who demonstrate clinical skill and compassionate care. It was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died of a disease attacking the immune system (DAISY). His family was awestruck by the care and compassion his nurses provided, so they established this award program. You can read Karen’s nomination story below:

“Thank you, Karen, for your excellent and professional care during your shift. Thank you for your kindness toward me in helping spend the night with my family member. You are truly an extraordinary nurse. You were very compassionate and understanding of her situation. You provided us both with information on everything you were doing to treat her. I truly, deeply felt she was in the very best hands possible as God used you to take care of her and got her through this very tough situation in her life. Thank you very much.”
