Southview’s June DAISY Award Winner – Jacie Schields

Read Time: 1 min

Congratulations to Jacie Schields, a Med Surg nurse at Southview Medical Center, for winning the hospital’s DAISY Award in June!

The DAISY Award is given to nurses who demonstrate clinical skill and compassionate care. It was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died of a disease attacking the immune system (DAISY). His family was awestruck by the care and compassion his nurses provided, so they established this award program. You can read Jacie’s nomination story below:

“Nurse Jacie is sweet the moment she speaks. She is soft spoken but is loving with her actions. I had an embarrassing situation with my procedure. Usually I become overwhelmed easily. Jacie’s sweet words; encouragement; and quick, thorough action helped immensely in resolving the mess and staying calm. She amazed me and was cool, calm, and collected every time that she came to my room. Jacie is a pleasant nurse that eased a stressful moment and brought me peaceful thinking because I watched her approach to the situation. Jacie is an asset to the nursing staff and a kind gentle spirit for her patients.”
