System Employee Update Concerning Masking

The CDC has updated its infection-control guidance for all U.S. settings where healthcare services are performed.

Based on this updated guidance, effective immediately, those individuals who work at our locations where healthcare services are provided are no longer required to wear face masks when they are in well-defined areas that are restricted from patient access (e.g. staff meeting rooms, lab, pharmacy) if they

1) do not have suspected or a confirmed COVID-19 infection or other respiratory infection;
2) have not had close contact or a high-risk exposure with someone with a COVID-19 infection for 10 days after their exposure;
 3) do not reside or work on a unit or area of the facility experiencing a SARS-CoV-2 outbreak; and
4) have not otherwise had source control recommended by public health authorities.

However, because the COVID-19 community transmission levels remain high, individuals working at all of our healthcare facilities must continue to wear face masks when they are in areas where they could encounter patients. We will continue to monitor the CDC’s guidance and data to update you when possible.
