Take Care of Your Mental Health

Read Time: 1 min

As a network, we are dedicated to providing care for the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. Make sure you take the time to provide the same level of care for yourself.

Research has proven there is a powerful tie between mind and body. Tending to your emotional health can improve your quality of life, potentially helping your body fight infections, recover from an illness, and even prevent chronic disease.

Check out the tips below to make sure both your mind and body are healthy year-round:

  1. Keep moving. Exercise changes how the body responds to stress and improves mood.
  2. Find healthy ways to relax. Whether it’s through prayer, music, art, reading, or short walks, taking time to relax and unwind can help lower your stress.
  3. Express yourself. Negative feelings and fears may present themselves as aches, pains, and problems. A friend or religious adviser can help you focus on positives and work through challenges.

Mental health resources are offered at Kettering Behavioral Medicine Center, Fort Hamilton Hospital, and Grandview Medical Center. For more information, visit ketteringhealth.org/mentalhealth

Employees can also utilize the IMPACT Employee Assistance Program, which offers access to a 24/7 mental health hotline staffed by licensed professionals in addition to three free in-person counseling sessions per issue. For more information, visit the Employee Assistance Program page on the intranet under the HR tab.
