I am pleased to announce that our Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program at Kettering Health Network has been granted System Center Accreditation by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE), the CPE accrediting body.

Clinical Pastoral Education is graduate level, professional education for pastoral care ministry and is the required training for hospital chaplains. This accreditation covers our two existing programs at Kettering Medical Center and Grandview Medical Center for the next 10 years. Further, it positions us to expand our CPE offerings in other Kettering Health Network facilities as the need arises.

ACPE has accredited Kettering since 1968, and this year we celebrate 50 years of commitment to Clinical Pastoral Education!

Currently, our CPE programs have:
• Full time, year-long residency (five students at Kettering Medical Center and four at Grandview Medical Center)
• 10-week summer intensive internship: June through mid-August (six at Kettering and four at Grandview)
• Extended internship: September through May (five at Kettering and four at Grandview)

A site visit team came to Kettering Health Network and reviewed our programs March 28-30. They were impressed with the work that we do in our CPE programs and affirmed a number of our strengths including:
• Our 50-year investment in CPE
• Commitment and support of administration and clinical staff
• Diverse service lines that provide a patient population for student chaplains to serve and learn from
• Institutional focus on community service
• Our commitment to integrate chaplains into our interdisciplinary teams

Congratulations to our ACPE Certified Educators, Moses Taiwo (Kettering), and Mark Feldbush (Grandview) for their work on this rigorous accreditation process, and for their commitment to excellence in pastoral training.
