The Wetherell Report: A Letter from the President

Read Time: 2 mins

As we come to the end of our 90th year at Grandview Medical Center, we have much to be thankful for. With God’s blessing and the support of our physicians and team members, we are finishing up the best year in Grandview’s history!

From humble beginnings in a converted house on Second Street with 10 beds to our current 235 bed facility, we have grown from a dream of three committed osteopathic physicians to one of the largest osteopathic teaching hospitals in the country. We help train more than 135 medical residents as well as hundreds of medical students. We branched out to start Southview Medical Center nearly 40 years ago, and in the last 15 years, added numerous outpatient centers and facilities. This year we will serve over 12,500 inpatients and nearly 400,000 outpatients throughout our communities.

Thank you for the wonderful care and experience you give to our patients and their families every day. Each one comes with their needs and hope for healing, and it is our privilege to aid them on their healthcare journey. The comments we receive from so many tell us that our efforts are appreciated.

2017 will be another busy year for us. Our medical education programs continue to go through significant transition. We are up for our HFAP visit later in the year and we will face potentially dramatic changes in our healthcare environment related to new leaders in our country. I have every confidence in our leadership and our team members that we will be up for whatever challenges come our way!

I hope as we enter into the Christmas season that you will be able to find time to spend with family and friends. We work in a fast-paced, high-stress setting, and it is important that we each are able to recharge to best serve our patients. It is only when we are at optimal health ourselves that we are able to provide the optimal experience for our patients.

Thank you again for all you do!  I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
