Rapid COVID-19 testing cannot be done at Kettering Health Network freestanding emergency departments as they do not have a hood.
Suspect case patients who require admission should be transferred to a Kettering Health Network hospital with a designated unit.
Upon arrival there, the patient should be tested with the SARS-CoV-2 Rapid test. If the test is negative but there is still a high suspicion of COVID-19 (fever, cough, hypoxemia, normal WBC, normal PCT, no clear alternate diagnosis such as bacterial pneumonia or CHF), then the patient should remain on the designated unit and have a SARS-CoV-2 PCR test sent.
