W-2 and Your Security

Read Time: 1 min

Payroll is looking out for your security and wants to make sure your personal information is protected as year-end and tax time approach. Below are three ways to make sure your information is secure:

Elect to receive your W-2’s electronically

This will help reduce the threat of identity theft by not having paper copies of your W-2 being sent in the mail or printing them yourself and having them get lost. Remember, your W-2 has your entire social security number displayed along with full name and address. Click here to learn how to elect this option.

Import into TurboTax

With UltiPro, you have the ability to import directly into TurboTax. This is another means to help ensure your information is sent securely when preparing your taxes rather than having paper copies floating around. Step by step instructions can be found by clicking here.

IRS W-2 verification code

The IRS is launching a new program to help prevent identity theft and protect the integrity of W-2 information. There will be a 16-digit verification code located in Box 9 of your W-2. You may be asked to provide this code when filing your federal return electronically. This program is still in the pilot stages, but may become mandatory in future years.
