Congratulations to the Southview DAISY Winners

The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by nurses every day. Hospitals receive several nominations for exceptional nurses every month. A nurse at each hospital is presented the DAISY Award every month.

Anne Donlon is Southview’s March DAISY award winner. Anne’s nomination reads:  “My father had been very ill and unable to sleep very much for a few nights in a row while at the hospital.  His medical condition was serious and he also has dementia. Dad displayed some manic-like behaviors due to the insomnia.  Anne knew how to calm my dad down in a professional way that took patience and ingenuity.”

Diana Elkins is Southview’s February DAISY award winner. Diana’s nomination reads:  “Diana does an excellent job in charge. She is always approachable and helps where and when needed. I have had several hard IV sticks and Diana never hesitates to help. If there is a patient/family problem that needs resolved, she jumps right in. (Even if she is busy with her own patients.) Whenever I work with Diana I know I can count on her. She is a wonderful nurse and deserves to be recognized!”

Carrie Dakin-Race is Southview’s January DAISY award winner. Carrie’s nomination reads:  “Carrie had a patient who had requested a Christmas tree. The patient had few visitors. The staff was led by Carrie to find a Christmas tree to provide joy to an elderly, sad patient.”
