Grandview May Employee of the Month: Hillary White

Congratulations to Hillary White from Social Services at Grandview for being recognized as the hospital’s May Employee of the Month!

The Employee of the Month Award recognizes the people you love to work with. These winners show exceptional performance as defined by the network’s Standards of Behavior, live out the network’s values, and demonstrate the healing presence practices outlined in Called to Care.

Hillary has been nominated by many co-workers, and you can all the nomination stories below:

  1. “Hillary displays wonderful qualities that make her an excellent choice for a star employee. Her ability to care for out unit’s patients with compassion and kindness ensures out staff that the needs of the patient have been met. Confidence is present with each discharge she works on as the RN knows the job is thoroughly completed. I have heard several comments from the other staff members regarding the confidence they have in her work. ‘If Hillary completed it, there is no dispute!’ She is always smiling. You never see her in a negative mood. She is often found staying a little later to help that one difficult patient. Kind words of encouragement, hugs with an uplifting spirit, and sweet smiles are displayed by her. Some other qualities that Hillary demonstrates daily are setting high performance expectations and offering alternative ideas. Often she is helping build self-confidence by complimenting others or just taking the time to say ‘Hi’. She offers friendship by remaining approachable to tasks that are being asked of her. She offers a listening ear and does not support negative comments or behaviors. Teaching by example is Hillary in a nutshell. We are honored to have her as a team member on out unit and as a friend. We could not do what we do without our Social Services workers, but Hillary sets a standard above and shines a Network Star sparkle that our nurses love to work with.”
  2. “We are blessed to work with a most talented and kind individual, Mrs. Hillary White. She has a profound desire to help those in need and is an excellent example of someone who lives their faith. In the two years that I have worked with her, never has she complained of the numerous difficult cases that she encounters on the 6th floor of Grandview. She is always willing to assist a fellow social worker in need and provides those little extras for patients that no one else knows about like fresh flowers or a small gift from the gift shop. Her sense of humor is infectious and she is a joy to work with. She is a talented young mother and wife and she is truly a pleasure to be associated with.”
  3. “Greetings, I am writing to nominate my co-worker, Hillary White, LSW, social worker to be given a Network Star. Hillary quietly, consistently, and humbly carries out the network’s mission of improving the quality of life for people in the community. Hillary is always quick to ask other staff members if they need help but rarely asks for any help herself. Hillary goes out of her way to provide that extra special experience for her patients. With a full case load, she has been known to take time to hold a patients hand and pray with them. Just the other day I witnessed her buying a birthday balloon for her patient who has Alzheimer’s and has no family or friends. She always smiles, even under the toughest circumstances. She is extremely competent and possesses a great knowledge of community resources often coming up with creative solutions for difficult social services cases. Thank you for your consideration of Hillary receiving a Network Star. Sincerely, Jenny Zapadka, LSW.”
