Congratulations to Teresa Heasley, a nurse on 6100 at Grandview Medical Center, for winning the hospital’s May DAISY Award!
The DAISY Award is given to nurses who demonstrate clinical skill and compassionate care. It was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died of a disease attacking the immune system (DAISY). His family was awestruck by the care and compassion his nurses provided, so they established this award program. You can read Teresa’s nomination story below:
“Teresa gave lots of hugs and just sat down with me to help calm me down. She was the sweetest caring nurse. She printed off papers for me to understand what surgery I was having. She came back into my room and handed me an angel, saying angels are all around me. We cried together. That was the sweetest thing someone has done for me. I just love and adore Teresa. Not too many people are like her. She is one of a kind, and the world is a better place because of her. Teresa, thank you for all your heartfelt talks and for caring so much about me. You’re a blessing. God bless.”
