Lesley Phillips Named Soin’s February Employee of the Month

Congratulations to Lesley Phillips, who was named Soin Medical Center’s February Employee of the Month. Lesley works in Med Surg at the hospital.

The Employee of the Month Award recognizes the people you love to work with. These winners show exceptional performance as defined by the network’s Standards of Behavior, live out the network’s values, and demonstrate the healing presence practices outlined in Called to Care. Lesley was nominated by a patient, and you can read the nomination story below:

“Lesley goes above and beyond each and every day for each patient on our floor. She is a team player, always ready to run and help at any moment. She has a smile and attitude to bright any patient’s day. There is a patient who will be forever impacted by Lesley. While caring for a patient coming from a horrific situation, Lesley never once complained, made him wait when he called for her, or asked not to have him back. In fact, she told him that she was back the next day, and she would make sure they could sit together all day again.

Lesley had an orientee and luckily was able to stay with him. I think for the first time in his life, he felt he had someone who truly cared about him. He even came up to me at one point and said, “Lesley is my first friend.”

For 12 hours, I watched Lesley walk lap after lap around the unit, run back and forth to his room, and take him for walks. When he was getting out of hand, she calmed him in a way nobody else could. At the end of the shift, he handed Lesley a simple card saying “thank you” with a heart around her name.”
