Kettering College will sponsor its eighth annual BeadforLife event December 7-9 on the ground floor of the Boonshoft Center for Medical Sciences. In support of this organization, college faculty and staff will be selling necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and shea butter soap and lip balm – all Ugandan-made – from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on December 7 and 8 and from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on December 9. Purchases can be made using cash, check, or credit card.
BeadforLife is a socially responsible global organization working with women, all of whom were living on less than $1 a day in extreme poverty. Based in North America and Uganda, BeadforLife has partnered with industrious women who make vivid beaded jewelry out of recycled paper.
The college’s event is coordinated by English professor Jill Evans, and the last seven BeadforLife events at the school have raised a combined total of around $32,000 for the organization. This amount places Kettering College as one of the biggest donors to the BeadforLife organization.
